Can I be fired after I’ve been hurt on the job?


There is nothing in the workers compensation statute itself that prohibits an employer from firing an employee due to their work injury. If an employee cannot work because of the employee’s injury, an employer can terminate the employee’s employment. However, there may be other laws or contracts that can limit an employer’s right to terminate an employee’s employment.
